Peckham Palace
Peckham is a vibrant place, influential in London and Global culture. It has produced world renowned musicians, pioneering new genres of music.
This vibrancy is due to the large African and Caribbean populations, hence the presence of flags of Ghana, Nigeria, Jamacia and more within the Illustration.
Through my research for this art piece, I spoke to friends who grew up in Peckham, attended musical events and connected with artists and organizations including Poetic Unity, Special Guest, and Shumba Youth.
Heart of the City
London is the beating heart of England., and as citizens we are its blood cells. We build our city as if with living tissue, crafting the environment to grow with us as a species. Communities act as organs, each playing a local part in the grand creature that is London.
The Real Cost of Gold
I created this piece to raise awareness of the decline in jaguar populations.
Thousands of illegal mines in the amazon rainforest use environmentally devastating practices to extract gold from the earth, including deforestation and toxic mercury saturation.
This gold is used in the same electronic devices we use daily, including the ipad used to create this piece. This creates a cruel and uncomfortable irony.
